Is It Live? Or Is It Logitech?

Ever since I upgraded my computer I’ve been suffering through built-in speaker hell. My old G4 came from the era when it seemed like everything Apple made was proprietary, so when I got my new G5 I was disappointed to discover that my little satellite globes couldn’t even be plugged in. My iSub would still work since it uses a USB connector, but using the iSub with a built-in speaker is like using a subwoofer with your shower radio. Since the awesome G5 has a fancy digital audio out, I had been trying to hold off until I could buy an awesome set of speakers that could use it. Something like the totally expensive Logitech z-5500’s. But last week I couldn’t take anymore of this crappy little speaker butchering the epiphany that is Monster Ballads: Platinum Edition and I finally decided to just buy a cheap pair of 2.1 speakers. At least they’d tide me over until I become filthy rich and can outfit every room of my house with it’s own 7.1 surround setup and a virgin to feed me grapes, right? So I ordered a set of Logitech X-230’s from newegg. They just arrived this morning and let me tell you. Ho. Lee. Crap. They sound fantastic! Seriously f’ing fantastic. In fact, they sound better than my old iSub/Apple Speakers setup. I’m sure that the audiophiles of the world would be horrifed that I’m saying that, but for a $40 set of 2.1 speakers I don’t see how I could do any better. Highly recommended.

  1. Awesome! Most of the time I have my computer muted, so nice speakers are just wasted on me.
